Our region's foreign relations are based on the Lubuskie Voivodeship's Foreign Cooperation Priorities. Three major goals have been established for the voivodeship's cooperation abroad. They are economic cooperation, participation in multilateral European Union programmes, and building social links with the regions of Europe and worldwide, including the development of multilateral cooperation in various aspects of socio-economic life.
Currently, Lubuskie is cooperating with 12 regions across the world; in Western Europe, in the form of cross - border relations with Brandenburg and Saxony in Germany, the French Département of Lot, in the Alsace region and Italy's Abruzzo region; in Central and Eastern Europe with the Homel Voblast in Belarus, the Sumska and Ivano-Frankovsk Oblasts in Ukraine, the Pskov Oblast and Vologda
Oblast in Russia, the Municipality of Chişinău in Moldovia and the Nitra region of Slovakia; and, in Asia, with China's Hainan Province.
In addition to the regional level, Lubuskie's cooperation abroad is also implemented on the local level, by means of agreements between cities, towns, communes, and districts, as well as via contact between schools, public and private institutions, organisations, associations, and so forth. Here, a major role is played by the Pro Europa Viadrina and the Sprewa-Nysa-Bóbr Euroregions.
