An unusual element of the Międzyrzecz landscape are the solids reinforced concrete bunkers, lost among forests and fields, massive steel domes and a few kilometres long rows of concrete pillars - the so-called "dragon's teeth" - anti-tank barriers. The remains of fortifications of the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region still bewilder with their enormity, stimulate imagination, while being the greatest tourist attraction on the Międzyrzecz Land.
The fortification was formed by a system of several dozen reinforced concrete bunkers. About 21 of them were connected by underground passages located at the depth of 30-50 m, forming a real maze with a total length of about 30 km! The underground axis is the corridor (Main Traffic Route) running along the north-south line. It branches out in different directions by means of side corridors leading to the so-called Sites. From them, concrete stairs lead to the on-ground part of the site - the bunker ("panzerwerk").
In two faunistic reserves created in the basement of the MFR, approximately 30 thousand bats winter annually.
