The Geopark stretches beyond the borders of federal states: Brandenburg and Saxony on the German side and the Lubuskie province on the Polish side. Currently, the Geopark functions as the most extensively studied, piled-up end moraine in the world. The Muskau Bend is considered to be the only end moraine on Earth visible from the space.
The Nysa Łużycka Valley, while crossing the Muskau Bend, forms picturesque trails, and at the same time is the border between Germany and Poland. Therefore, the Muskau Bend, as a geological formation, is a cross-border object. The moraine has a horseshoe shape and it is 40 kilometres long and 3 to 5 wide. Height differences on its area reach up to 100 meters.
